Ribonuclease is an enzyme that hydrolyzes r-i-b-o-n-u-c-l-e-i-c acid and is highly soluble in water. It specifically catalyzes the cleavage of the 3 'and 5' phosphodiester bonds in the ribose of r-i-b-o-n-u-c-l-e-i-c acid, forming oligonucleotides with 3 '- cyclic monophosphate derivatives. Relative molecular weight 13700, optimal pH 7.0-8.0, extremely stable for dilute acid, heat, and protein degrading enzymes, but unstable in alkaline conditions. Mainly used as a biochemical reagent, it is a tool enzyme for nucleic acid research.
