Appearance: Yellow or orange crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless. Soluble in c-h-l-o-r-o-f-o-r-m, benzene, a-c-e-t-o-n-e, p-e-t-r-o-l-e-u-m ether, and ether, extremely slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water and m-e-t-h-a-n-o-l. There is an isopentenyl group in the structure, which is easily decomposed when exposed to light, making the color darker (reddish substance).
