Appearance: White or light yellow powder. A hydrophilic polysaccharide extracted from seaweed plant kelp, almost odorless and tasteless. Sensitive to moisture, slowly soluble in water, forming a viscous colloidal solution, insoluble in ethanol, ether, c-h-l-o-r-o-f-o-r-m, and acids with a pH below 3. The solution does not condense when heated. The pH value of the 1% aqueous solution is 6-8, and the viscosity is stable at pH 6-9. When heated above 80 ºC, the viscosity decreases.
