Appearance: Yellow needle shaped crystal or crystalline powder. Heat to 95-97 ºC to become anhydrous. Decompose at 312-314 ºC. 1G is soluble in 290ml of anhydrous ethanol and 23ml of boiling ethanol, soluble in glacial acetic acid, yellow in alkaline solution, and almost insoluble in water. The alcohol solution has a bitter taste. The maximum absorption wavelengths (in ethanol) are 258 and 275 nm (loG, ε, 2.75, 2.75). Toxic, with a median lethal dose (mouse, oral) of 160mG/kG.
